HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hers's wishing everyone a happy new year, lets hope 2013 makes for a better year than this one! Everyone stay safe and have fun tonight!

I have done my makeup for a little house party I'm having later. I used blue, pink and purple and glitter eyeliner to achieve the eyeshadow look. Just make sure you blend them all together! I used a rimmel kohl black eyeliner to frame the eyes and added a little wing to gives my eyes more length. Then I used some Girls Aloud lashes, Nicola's are my favourite. Then just do your foundation as usual and add some shimmer to the cheeks for that extra shine.

Sorry about my hair its a bit of a mess I haven't done it yet :)

Till next year!

Review Friday: Pitch Perfect

Starring: Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson

Plot: The Barden Bellas are an all-girls a cappella singing group but after a disastrous performance last year they need to regroup. Beca (Kendrick) is one of the new recruits, an aspiring DJ with no interest in the college life. She try's her best to inject new life and give the Bellas a new sound in order to beat their all male rival group.

Rating: PG-13

My Thoughts: After seeing the trailer I pretty much thought this was going to be kind of a glee movie, don't get me wrong I love Glee I just didn't think I would warm to these characters as I have to my much loved TV show. Well let me tell you how wrong I was, yes they sing and are in a competition but this film gives a different vibe so even those Glee haters would love it. Kendrick plays the main character Beca and after seeing her in 50/50 I knew she would hold this role well. She has great chemistry with the male lead Jesse (Astin) and you could really believe that this could be the start of any new relationship.
Other than the two leads I loved Anna Camp as the bitchy leader, I loved her in True Blood and she is perfect for this role. Rebel Wilson however steals even scene she is in and she really makes the movie, there are many laugh out loud moments and everything she says is perfect.
If you love Bridesmaids and Mean Girls you will love this. Even guys will love this! The music choices are really good and make this movie feel more grown up than Glee or High School Musical type things. If you want a laugh this is the film for you. It won't win Oscars or any big awards this season but it will leave you smiling and quoting many of Rebel Wilson's lines.

Fun

Wednesday Update: Christmas!!!

Hello everyone this is just going to be a quick update with what I have been doing in the last week, its been very busy!!
So last Thursday I finished all my shopping with my sister in Birkenhead, Wirral which was ok but it was so busy. Then I just spent the afternoon wrapping presents and making party bags for my friends for Saturday. On Friday I went round to my aunties to help her wrap, which took forever as she bought loads but it was fun. Me and my mum stayed for a Chinese as well.
Saturday was a busy one also, we got up really early and went to Asda (Walmart) to get some pizzas and we ended up getting an early present, I picked a mans sweatshirt from Next that I love and its so big and comfy. I will post a picture of everything I got on Friday. We went to Frankie and Benny's for a lovely breakfast, I had an egg and bacon muffin which I highly recommend.
My friends then came round and my sister did some nail designs on a few of them, we basically just chatted, caught up, ate and had fun. I missed them all a lot!
Sunday was me just catching up on sleep! Monday me and my sister went with my dad, his wife and daughter to my Nan's where some of the family were, and we all gave each other presents and just spent time chatting.
CHRISTMAS DAY! I got up around 8 ish and went downstairs with my mum and sister, we drank tea and opened presents!! I got :

  • curling wand
  • one direction take me home album
  • ted
  • the dark knight rises
  • terry's chocolate orange
  • earrings
  • chelsea boots
  • big army jacket
  • hat
  • smellies
  • bath stuff
  • hair stuff
  • purse
  • perfume
  • money
  • Ian Somerhalder calender
  • makeup
Then we went round the corner to my Nan and Grandad's and had dinner which was lovely, my auntie, uncle and cousin were also there. Then we just chilled out because we were stuffed! Me and my mum went to my other auntie and uncle's later on and we gave each other presents I then got some makeup, smellies, hairband, gloves, cookies, top, earrings, jewelry box, nail file and a bracelet  We then ate even more and drank bucks fizz and basically had a really good time, I didn't end up going to bed until 5am! I was so shattered as we had to leave at 10am and when I got home I only intended to go to bed for an hour but crashed out and missed going back to my Nan's for her anniversary buffet, opps!
Christmas has been fun soon it will be New Year, gosh its gone so fast! I think my auntie and uncle are coming to ours for that. Sorry I didn't manage to do the makeup tutorial I was so busy I only had a subtle smoky eye and some new lashes on.
New movie review will be up Friday though!! Comment for suggestions!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and have eaten as much as me haha, tell me what you got!

Review Friday: The Rules of Attraction

Starring: James Van Der Beek, Ian Somerhalder, Shannyn Sossamon, Jessica Biel, Jay Baruchel

Plot: From the writer Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) comes a story of Patrick Bateman's younger brother Sean as he attends Camden College. It is about a unusual love triangle between a drug dealer, a virgin and a bisexual student.

Rating: 18/R

My Thoughts:
This film is hard one to explain on paper/word because you really have to see it to get what its about. Their are so many interlocking moments between all the characters that it really puts into perspective that everyone has a story to tell. Sean (Van Der Beek) is a womanizer and sleeps with god knows how many different women when he meets Lauren (Sossamon) who he wants but can't have because she is saving herself for Victor, who is back-packing across Europe. Instead he goes for Lauren's room mate Lara (Biel), whereas Paul (Somerhalder) who used to go out with Lauren is lusting after Sean who is incredibly uninterested in him.
We see the lives of these individuals and the misery they go through in a realistic way. Other teenage sex related films are so cheesy and clique and you know how the story is going to be played out and then the ending is so bad that everyone lives happily ever after. This film is very original and dark, there are moments where you laugh out loud even when you know your not supposed to. There is one scene which is so brilliant its become one of my favourite scenes in film of all time, it is so funny, props to Somerhalder and Russell Sams who plays Richard (and who I might say steals the film).

There is nothing stereotypical about this film, some bits are odd, like the whole reverse footage at the start of the film and Victors back-packing journey, but that's what makes this film so great. I wasn't expecting to like this film but I now love it and will defiantly be adding it to my collection.

Refreshing

Wednesday Update: Birthday/Food/Presents

Hello people so not much happened last week from Wednesday to Friday except we were so poor that we didn't have any money to buy something to eat so we had to scrounge for food in our cupboards which wasn't fun! So basically all I did was talk and think about food which made me more hungry! Typical!

Saturday my sister did glitter acrylics on my toenails with a few gems, here is a pic:

Also on Saturday me and my sister went out for my dad's birthday to Frankie and Benny's which was good as we haven't seen each other in a while and actually sat down and talked. His wife and daughter came as well, it was good to see them. I also got my dad this amazing apron from Amazon, he loved it!! And we got him a card from Moonpig with old pics of us and him on it which he really liked as well! So overall a success!

My Dad with his Birthday Present, blood is on it further down (Knife not included):

Sunday was so boring it dragged on!!! I finished wrapping my sister's presents that was it! Monday and Tuesday was pretty much the same, I was so tired as I haven't been getting much sleep so I was a zombie those days, all I did was clean.
Today was productive though I helped my sister with her designs for college as their is a competition coming up, so we talked through the designs and then I did 10 and she did 10! The 10 she got me to do was all glitter and gems, I really liked how they came out!

The week I've got coming up included visiting my Nan for Christmas Eve, seeing my friends on Saturday and finishing my Christmas shopping tomorrow (finally)!!!!!!
So I will write Friday for my movie review, give me any suggestions for movies you think I will like!!!

Till next time

Review Friday: Now is Good

Starring: Dakota Fanning, Jeremy Irvine, Olivia Williams, Kaya Scodelario, Paddy Considine

Plot: Tessa (Fanning) is a 17 year old girl who decides to end her treatment for leukemia and compiles a list of things to do before she dies.

Rating: PG-13

My Thoughts:
First of all when I read the plot of this film I already sensed the outcome of the film, spoiler alert - she dies! I normally avoid these types of films e.g. My Sisters Keeper because you just know you will fall in love with the character and the emotions will hit you and you will end up in a flood of tears, all alone watching the end credits roll on.
This film did exactly that!
But instead of focusing on when she is going to die you really get sucked into her life and start to even think yourself 'what would I do if I didn't have long left'. That message is key throughout the whole film, the audience whilst trying to overlook Fanning's debatable British accent see the beauty in having special moments to live for. I began willing on Tessa to stay alive longer so she could achieve everything she set out to do. This film really hits you and the chemistry between Fanning and Irvine is so beautiful, their first kiss is perfection, the way he looks at her makes you want to find someone like that.
The first half of the film you find yourself smiling and falling in love with the characters of Tessa and Adam, the relationship between Tessa's parents are a good dynamic and show a different side with the dad being the strong parent and the mum taking a seat back and not really knowing what to do to help her daughter.
The second half pulls at your heart strings, there is a scene where Tessa is watching her brother play outside, I dare you not to shed a tear, its impossible.
This film is brilliantly acted by everyone involved and even though its not all happy and bouncy it doesn't need to be. Its real, it makes you feel real emotions and really makes you think about the choices in your life.

Beautiful

The Perks of Being a Wallflower: My Thoughts/Review

I've just finished watching this film for the second time and I'm wiping the tears off my cheek which is a rarity as I never normally cry let alone over a film. I think the thing that got me about this film is that I can relate it to my situations and what I have been through over the past 2 years.

I'm not going to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it but its about Charlie a boy who is just starting high school, trying to find his feet in the world but struggling with his past, his thoughts and feelings. I suppose like me many people love this film because we can relate to the main character but for me its the first time I've watched a film and have been taken aback by the feelings I got from it. As those who know me or have read an entry I did a while ago I suffer with anxiety, which isn't really linked with what goes on in the film but I understand that feeling of not wanting to put your hand up in class and being to shy to get involved in anything at school, hell I never joined a club in my life because I was scared of talking/meeting new people. I hate any situation that is out of my comfort zone, I avoid things i feel uneasy about which I wish I didn't because I miss out on so much.

My anxiety now makes everything worse than it was in school, I don't just avoid things, I stop everything. I've basically not lived my life for 2 years which is sad because I'm only 19 and I would do anything to be like my friends and go out and have fun. My doctor says I will be living with this for the rest of my life and it's up to me to find the way I'm best at dealing with it. I try not to think of the future or make plans because if I did I would be upset if I couldn't achieve them. It's a weird feeling being told your going to have to deal with something that prevents you from being the best you because you can't see how your situation could change. Your stuck in a rut and you can't possibly see yourself doing anything you want to do because of this crippling fear of the unknown.

I've kind of gone off topic here but what I'm trying to say is Charlie's feelings parallel mine in some way, he says something in the line of how can I be happy and sad at the same time, and I totally get that. He relives in his memory everything that's happened to him and everything he sees, which I have done for a long time. I over think every step I have ever made, god even steps other people have made and I go over them. I still remember things I have said from years ago and say to myself why the hell did you say that when it doesn't matter anymore. I hold onto the past which never lets you feel free and if I'm going to get better I need to let go of everything.

This film is one of my favourites of this year if you haven't seen it you need to, its hard to explain but its worth watching. I think its out on DVD in February maybe I will get it for my birthday but until then I'm going to read the book.

Till next time with hopefully a happier blog :)
